Questions, answered.

Where the schedule comes from, what the app will send you, how sharing and daycare work, what it costs and where your data lives. With the numbers, because a vague answer to a question about numbers is the thing this app exists to avoid.

01

Getting started

What is Bobbychips?

A baby tracker that does the arithmetic with what you log. You record the feeds, naps, diapers and sleep as they happen, and the app turns that log into the rest of the day: when the next bottle is due, where the next nap fits, and where bedtime lands. The log is the input, not the product.

If you are expecting, it starts earlier than that, with a countdown, a weekly guide and your prenatal visits. See how the schedule is built on the home page.

Can I look around before I sign up?

Yes. The live demo is the real app running on a real dataset, with no account and nothing to install. Writing is turned off, so a log button shows a note instead of saving. Everything else, including History, Growth and the schedule itself, behaves exactly as it does for a signed-in account.

What does it cost?

Nothing today, and nothing until 2027. There is no subscription, no upgrade, no trial that runs out and no feature held back for a paid tier. The patterns, the sleep heatmap, the growth math and the weekly recap are the app, not the paid half of it.

What happens after that is genuinely undecided. We would rather say so than promise something that has not been designed yet.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone and iPad, from the App Store, and an Apple Watch app installs with the iPhone app so you can log from your wrist. It also runs in any modern browser at app.bobbychips.com, including on an Android phone, where it installs to the home screen and behaves like an app. That is the same app and the same account, not a cut-down version.

My baby is four months old already. Is it too late to start?

No. The app needs today, not your history. Enter the date of birth, set the wake window, nap length and bottle count you are already working with, and the first projection is ready as soon as you log one thing.

If you want the first day to be accurate rather than half empty, there is a catch-up wizard for the stretch nobody logged, and you can tell it to start tracking from a time partway through the day.

Do I have to log everything for it to work?

The schedule needs feeds and sleep. Diapers, solids, medications, photos and notes are there when you want the record and cost you nothing when you skip them. A day with gaps still projects. It simply projects from the last thing it knows about.

02

The schedule

Where do the times actually come from?

Three numbers you control: how long your baby is awake between sleeps, how long a nap runs, and how many bottles you are aiming for in a day. The app takes the last thing you logged, adds the wake window to find the next nap, spreads the remaining bottles across the rest of the day, and holds your target bedtime in place.

If you have not set those numbers yet, it starts from age based WHO and CDC ranges, and you adjust from there. Nothing is hidden: the home page walks through the whole mechanism and the app shows the same reasoning on the day.

The bottle was an hour late. Does the whole day slide?

The day re-projects from the event you logged, not from the plan it had. A late bottle moves the feeds after it and the naps in between, while bedtime stays where you put it, so the time comes out of the gaps rather than out of the evening.

When the day stops fitting, the app says which adjustment it made in plain language instead of quietly shortening the plan. A nap that no longer fits becomes a short one and is labeled as such.

What if a feed never happens at all?

It leaves the plan rather than sitting there overdue until midnight. The ounces it was carrying are spread across the bottles still to come, and a single bottle is topped up by no more than two ounces, so a missed feed never turns into one enormous one. If the day cannot absorb all of it, the app tells you that too, rather than pretending the total still works.

Does it study our history and retune itself?

No, and this is worth being exact about. It re-projects within the day from what you logged. It does not mine last month to decide your wake window has changed.

Those numbers stay yours, in Settings. What the app does instead is tell you when the day stopped fitting them, which is the honest signal that it is time to change them.

The wake windows are wrong for my baby.

Change them. Every number the projection uses is editable: wake window, nap length, how many naps, bottle count and ounces, the first feed of the day, the last feed window and bedtime. The defaults are a starting point drawn from published ranges, not a recommendation about your baby.

There is also a sample day built from your settings alone, so you can see what a set of numbers implies before you live a day on them.

Can I turn the projections off?

Yes. One switch makes it a plain tracker: you keep the logging, the timeline, History, the growth charts and the sharing, and the app stops predicting anything. Reminders that depend on a projection stop with it, which is the point.

03

Reminders

What will it actually send me?

One heads-up before a feed or a nap is due, and one follow-up if it goes by. There is no ladder of escalating reminders and no notification whose only content is that you have not opened the app. You choose the lead time: 10, 15, 20, 30 or 45 minutes.

Will it wake me up at night?

Only if you ask it to. Quiet hours are yours to set, and alerts are tiered: the few with a real cost can pierce a Focus mode, and routine ones deliberately cannot. Sending everything at the top level is how a parent ends up switching the whole category off, and then the one alert that mattered is gone too.

I did not get a reminder. What happened?

Check three things, in this order. Notifications are allowed for Bobbychips in your device settings. The bell in the app is not paused, for this device or for the day. And there is something to predict from: an account with nothing logged yet has no next feed to remind you about.

Daycare hours are also quiet on purpose. A reminder you could not act on is noise, so the app holds them while your baby is out.

Can I pause them?

Yes, for one device or for everyone with access. There is also an automatic pause: after a long stretch with nothing logged, the app assumes the phone is not with the baby, tells you once that alerts are paused, and waits for you to log something rather than reminding you about a day that is no longer happening.

04

Sharing and family

How do I share with my partner, a grandparent or a nanny?

Settings, then Caregivers, then create an invite link. It works once and expires after seven days. Whoever accepts it gets their own account, sees the same timeline, logs into the same day, and gets reminders on their own devices.

What can a caregiver see and change?

Everything about that baby: the timeline, History, growth, photos and notes, with the same ability to log and edit that you have. Two things stay with the owner, the date of birth and the due date, because those re-base the schedule, every growth percentile and the milestone timetable. Renaming the baby is expected; silently re-dating it is not.

If I remove someone, what happens?

Access ends at once. Their reminders for that baby stop, their voice shortcuts stop working, and photo links already handed out stop resolving. There is no grace period, and the app does not announce it to them.

Can I track more than one baby?

Yes, on one account, each with its own settings, goals, history and timezone. Switching between them is one tap, and each one can be shared with a different set of people.

We are traveling. Will the times be wrong?

No. Each baby has its own timezone. Change it and choose whether to move to local time or keep the rhythm you already had. Entries you logged before the move keep the moment they actually happened, so your history does not shift underneath you.

05

Daycare

How does daycare work?

Tell the app the hours. During them it stops sending reminders you could not act on, and it stops grading the day against goals nobody in that building was told about. The bottles you packed can be counted so the day adds up, and they are drawn as assumptions rather than as things you saw happen.

Are naps assumed too?

Never. A bottle you packed is a fact about your own morning. A nap at daycare is a guess about a room you were not in, and inventing one would put a sleep total in front of you that nothing measured.

Do I have to type in the daily report?

You can type it, and it is a short sheet rather than a form. You can also scan it: point the camera at the center's paper report, or use a screenshot of their app, and the text is read on your device and pre-filled for you to check. Nothing is saved until you confirm the numbers, and that photo never leaves the phone.

On an iPhone you can send the screenshot straight from the share sheet without opening the app first.

What if I enter the report twice?

The second one replaces the first. It never doubles the day. A real report also re-earns the goals that the assumed bottles were standing in for, so the day is scored on what happened rather than on what you packed.

06

Growth and milestones

WHO charts or CDC charts?

Both, and you switch between them. Percentiles are computed from the published LMS values rather than read off a curve by eye, so the number you see is the number the table gives for that measurement on that day.

My baby was premature. Does it correct for that?

Milestones are counted from corrected age, always, with nothing to switch on. On the growth charts, corrected age is a toggle you control.

The split is deliberate. Which basis a chart should use is often a conversation you are already having with your pediatrician, and changing the chart under you is not our call to make.

Will it tell me my baby is behind?

No. There is no ranking against other babies, no score, and no color ramp that turns a percentile amber. A percentile that moved down is printed in the same ink as one that moved up, because coloring it would be an assessment, and an assessment is not ours to make.

The same rule holds in History: a day's score is a number against goals you set, not a grade.

Where do the patterns in History come from?

Plain correlation across the days you have logged, and a card needs seven complete logged days and a correlation of 0.45 or better before it will say anything at all. Below that there is nothing to see, which is the point: a pattern drawn from four days is a coincidence with a chart around it.

Is any of this medical advice?

No. Bobbychips gives you general information based on your own logs and on published WHO and CDC material. It does not diagnose anything and it does not replace care from a clinician. If something about your baby concerns you, call your pediatrician.

07

Expecting

Can I start before the baby is born?

Yes. Sign up with a due date instead of a date of birth and the app becomes a pregnancy: the countdown, the week you are in, your prenatal visits, kick counting, a contraction timer, your own weight, symptoms, notes and a week by week photo journal.

There is no cycle or conception tracking. It starts from a due date you already have.

What is in the weekly guides?

39 weekly guides, weeks 4 through 42. Each one is short: what is developing, what is common right now, and one thing worth raising at your next visit. They are drawn from the CDC, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the World Health Organization and MotherToBaby, all free to read and none behind a login.

One arrives by email the morning a new week starts and stays readable in the app for the rest of it. It is the same text in both places.

How does it tell me how big the baby is?

No. You get a size line for the week, stated as a general average and labeled as one. There is no fetal growth chart and no percentile anywhere in this mode, because the app has never measured your baby, and drawing a point it did not measure is the same failure as inventing a nap at daycare.

If a scan gave you numbers, they go in that visit's notes as something you were told. Nothing clinical is imported from anywhere: every number in the mode is one you typed.

How much will it notify me while I am pregnant?

Very little, on purpose. One notification on the morning each new week starts. Three arrive once each in a whole pregnancy: kick counting exists, the hospital bag list exists, and today is your due date. Up to three more around a visit you added yourself.

Not one of them is sent at a level that interrupts a Focus mode. In pregnancy there is almost nothing you can act on at that moment, and piercing Do Not Disturb to say that you are in week 25 is how a whole category gets muted.

Will it nag me to count kicks?

No. Kick counting appears from week 28, and the app will never ask you to use it. There is no notification telling you that you have not counted today, at any week, for any reason. A completed count is not reassurance, and treating it as one is the harm this feature could actually do.

If the baby's movement seems different to you, call your provider now. Do not wait for a count. That line sits on the card and in the sheet, and it cannot be dismissed.

Do the visit reminders help me remember what to ask?

That is what they are for. Add a prenatal appointment and you are reminded the evening before and again 90 minutes ahead. When you create the visit, the questions to ask box is already filled in with the question from every weekly guide since your last appointment, one per line, yours to edit or throw away. Underneath it is a box for what they told you.

What happens when the baby arrives?

One button, about six taps, and nothing is typed twice. Name, date of birth and sex for the percentile math, then the same goals screens any new baby gets.

The kick sessions, photos, notes and visits stay where they are, dated before the birth, and become a read-only keepsake at the bottom of History. The due date is kept on purpose: it is what corrects the age on the milestone guides afterward.

What if the pregnancy ends?

There are two quiet doors, one in Settings and one in the record switcher, and the app never opens either of them for you. No banner, no prompt after a stretch of silence, no message afterward to bring you back. Notifications stop the moment you tap it.

You choose whether to keep the record or delete it. The two choices are drawn identically, because the app has no business recommending one, and nothing asks you why.

08

Privacy, data and your account

Do you sell my data?

No. We do not sell it and we do not share it for advertising. There are no ads, no ad trackers and no third-party analytics in the app. Label scanning and the daycare report scan both happen on your device, so those photos never leave the phone.

What we do collect and why is set out in the privacy policy, in plain language.

Where is my data stored?

Your data is stored in the United States, and Bobbychips is available in the United States only. The privacy policy names each service that touches it and what each one is for.

Can I get my data out?

Yes. Settings has a CSV export of everything logged: bottles, nursing, pumping, naps, poops, solids and bedtime. The check-up summary is built to be printed and taken to an appointment.

Does it work without a signal?

Logging does. Anything you record while offline is held on the device, shown in the day as if it had saved, and sent as soon as you are back. Opening a day you have not loaded yet needs a connection.

How do I sign in?

Sign in with Apple, sign in with Google, or an email address and a password. Email accounts verify the address before the account goes live, and a password reset locks out sessions that were already signed in.

How do I delete my account?

Settings, then Delete account. It removes your account and every baby you own, including logged events and photos. It cannot be undone and we do not keep a copy.

If you no longer have the app installed, ask us to delete it instead.

Still stuck?

If your question is not here, send it. We read everything and usually reply within two business days, and questions that come up more than once end up on this page.

From inside the app, Settings then Send feedback attaches your app version automatically, which saves a round trip when we are working out what you were running.

Check it against your own baby

Free right now, and free until 2027. The demo is the real app on a real dataset, so you can see the method before you type anything.
